LAMBETH LIBRARY UNDER OCCUPATION!

Carnegie Library in Lambeth was due to close this evening for the final time after serving Lambeth residents for 110 years, but the library friends group has peacefully occupied the library this evening to fight the closure.

Our neighbours, Croydon Libraries, are also on the agenda again....

While the current administration was in opposition, they promised to rip up the contract with Carillion, and bring the libraries back under Council control. There has been no news or action on this, in spite of clear election promises.

Cabinet meeting Monday 21 March, with consultation due to start on Tuesday 22 March.

Our solidarity to both Save Lambeth Libraries & Save Croydon Libraries campaign.

Our own campaign continues - news of forthcoming actions and events coming soon...
